Kidnapping: Wike tells thieves, "We'll make Abuja hot for you."

Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced yesterday that security agencies will make it more difficult for bandits to operate in the territory as part of his confidence-building trips to local councils.

His visit took place against a backdrop of ongoing victim kidnapping and murder by local bandits.

During his visit to Bwari town, which serves as the headquarters of Bwari Area Council, Wike had a town hall meeting with locals, traditional leaders, security, defense, and intelligence professionals, among other relevant parties.

In the upcoming days, the minister is anticipated to visit additional councils.

At the gathering, Wike said that informants for the bandits would not be allowed to sleep among respectable citizens and that he had had enough.

"One of the top priorities of Mr. President's administration is security," he declared. Due to recent attacks, especially in Bwari, Mr. President called a high-level security meeting yesterday (Tuesday), which includes myself, the minister of defense, and all of the military chiefs.

Wike also asked for public support, particularly in terms of giving information to security organizations.

"We are powerless without information, which is where you come in. Leaders in the community and tradition, you have a vital role to play. You must provide information to security agencies.

He cautioned the public against using crowdfunding to raise money for ransom because it enables terrorists to carry out additional assaults.
