FOLLOWING TWO FATALITIES IN A FIGHT BETWEEN NEIGHBORS, ADELEKE DECLARES A CURFEW.

In response to recent conflicts involving the towns, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has once again enforced a curfew on the settlements of Ilobu and Ifon from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

In addition, he organized a combined task force and sent soldiers and other security personnel to the opposing towns.

Kolapo Alimi, the commissioner of information and public enlightenment, made the announcement of the governor's decision on Tuesday.

On Monday, fighting between militias from the Ifon and Ilobu groups had restarted in the villages near Osun and Oyo State's border.

In the renewed crisis, police verified that two people had died and that property had been destroyed.

Prior to the most recent crises, Adeleke had enforced a dusk-to-dawn curfew on the two settlements in October of last year following the start of violent altercations.

However, the curfew was lifted in December when the area began to experience peace again.

But on Monday, the unrest resumed, sending many of the locals packing.

"His Excellency Senator Ademola Adeleke, in his capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the state, has approved that the 6 pm to 6 am curfew be imposed with immediate effect," the administration said in a statement on Tuesday. The declaration was predicated on the review of the security situation.

"That with immediate effect, the government of Osun State should form a joint task force comprising all parties involved in the warring communities, including the traditional chiefs of Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun."

"That all three communities' traditional chiefs and rulers, along with government representatives and all security chiefs in attendance, will convene a high-power stakeholders meeting." that, effective immediately, a detachment of the security forces, including the police, Army, and Civil Defense, be sent to the combat zones.

In the meantime, the Osun Police Command reported that two suspects had been taken into custody in relation to the Ifon and Ilobu communal clashes.
While urging calm, the command's spokesman, Yemisi Opalola, stated in a statement that agents had been sent to the region to bring about peace.

"Unfortunately, two people died in the tragedy, and their bodies have been placed in the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital mortuary.
"In the meantime, the State Criminal Investigation Department will conduct a discreet investigation into the actions of one Mojeed Oyewumi Alani "M" and one other who were apprehended by police operatives for their involvement in the confrontation with weapons and illegal charms," stated Opalola.
