CARMELITE MISSIONARIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ARISE FOUNDATION KICKS AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The buying and selling of human beings for financial gain through coercion or deception is known as human trafficking.

Nigeria's population boom and unfavorable economic conditions—which exacerbate unemployment, underemployment, and insecurity and drive people to look for better chances abroad—are the main causes of human trafficking in the country. These options include better pay, respectable work, and education. Due to the need for access to high-quality employment and education, almost 15 million Nigerians now live abroad.

Because it endangers people and is one of the main drivers of worldwide crime, human trafficking continues to be a serious problem for the international community. Nigeria began combating human trafficking in 2009 and has since worked with law enforcement, immigration, customs, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), the Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labor (NACTAL), and customs.

Humans are not goods to be bought or sold. Let's get together to combat it.

People who are victims of human trafficking lose their dignity and are left traumatized, which causes them to pass away too soon. We have to denounce this as a violation of human rights.

For this reason, Carmelite Missionaries in partnership with Arise Foundation urges everyone everyone to combat this threat.

Speak up when you observe anything. Who knows? Your words could potentially rescue a victim. It's time to put an end to this horrible crime, and we can do so together.

On February 3, 2024, at 10 a.m., all youths from Igbologun, Igbo-Osun, and Igbo-Esenyero, Lagos Creek, who are 15 years of age and older, are invited to the Igbologun town hall.
