AKPAN TELLS AKPABIO TO STOP ABUSING OBONG ATTAH.

Former Old Cross River State legislator Otuekong Thomas Akpan has threatened to bring serious repercussions from those in his political career if Senate President Godswill Akpabio continues to disparage former Akwa Ibom State governor Obong Victor Attah.

The Senate President "openly insulted" Obong Attah yesterday, according to Akpan, the Deputy Leader of the Akwa Ibom North-East (Uyo) Consultative Forum, when Akpabio asserted that the state had never seen real growth before he was elected governor.

"Let me warn Akpabio to stop insulting Obong Attah, former governor and undisputed father of modern Akwa Ibom State," he stated, speaking on behalf of the whole Akwa Ibom people.

"It is offensive and inconceivable for Akpabio to openly assert that Akwa Ibom did not undergo what he called "genuine growth" prior to his appointment as the state's governor in 2007.

This can't be tolerated. Aside from kidnapping and indiscriminate slaughter, what significant advancements did the Akwa Ibom people undergo under Akpabio's administration as governor?

"For example, the late Maj-Gen Edet Akpan was abducted from the church during Akpabio's tenure as governor, and he would have been executed if not for the intervention of the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

"Akpablo should understand that he would not be alive today, much less be the Senate President, if Obong Attah had not saved him by appointing him commissioner in his administration for six years."

"It is on record that Obong Attah established land mark projects such as Ibom Aiport, Ibom Icon Hotel and Golf Course, Gas Processing Project, major highways, and Akwa Ibom Master Plan," Akpan said in response to Akpabio's "deliberate attempt" to discredit Attah's legacy as governor.

"We are aware of the reopened Moribund Champion Breweries, Akwa Ibom Property and Investment Company Limited, Ibom Power Plant, Anchor Insurance, and numerous other legacy projects."
