A non-governmental organization (NGO) called the Center for Defense of Morality (CDM) has organized 2000 young people in Lagos State to oppose sexual deviance. "No Bed, No Wed."
The mobilization is a component of the festivities leading up to the National Arts Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, for the yearly "Chastity Parade" program in 2024.
The organization inspired teenagers and young adults to take a stance against sexual immorality and abstention from all sorts of moral decay.
During Sunday's procession, Nkem Chima, the International President of CDM, stated that the purpose of the event was to rename February 14th from Lovers Day to Chastity Day.
Nkem Chima goes on to say that the program, which has been running for 12 years, aims to bring young people together in opposition to societal vices and sexual deviance.
"Approximately 5,000 teenagers and young people from Lagos, Aba, Ghana, and the Ivory Coast come together annually for the Chastity Parade, where they unite in unity to reaffirm their decisions to abstain through vows, pledges, and awareness," he stated.
According to Nkem Chima, the integrated approach has shown to be advantageous for society as a whole since it encourages individual initiative and dedication to the goal.
According to the head of the NGO, the yearly program has also reduced the sharp rise in adolescent pregnancies, sexual assaults, and STDs.
He said that CDM has contributed to the international dissemination of the moral message through collaboration with academic institutions, corporate organizations, and interdenominational agencies.
In her remarks, Project Director Uche John stated that thousands of young people both domestically and outside had been influenced by the event.
The response we consistently got indicated that we are making progress in our efforts to eradicate immorality in our youth.
"Almost every industry has been sexualized, including entertainment, social media, the arts and culture, and everything else. This has contaminated society as a whole.
Therefore, the purpose of this program is to raise awareness, assist in protecting and educating young people, and help them concentrate on their future goals and ambitions.
"The majority of our young people have made many mistakes in the past year, including unintended pregnancies and drug and substance addictions, but we are raising awareness by teaching them to avoid deviance and stay focused on their future goals."
Uche also suggested that young people in society adopt the mottos "No Wed No Bed" and "No Wed No Bed." Say no to premarital sex, choose chastity until marriage, and say yes to purity.
One of the participants, Miss Blessing Uchechi, expressed gratitude to the NGO for assisting her in making wise choices in previous years.
She claims that her academic career has advanced significantly as a result of her wise choices and her pledge of purity.
"I want other young people and the next generation to take inspiration from and embrace this platform; the chastity parade event has greatly benefited both my professional and personal lives.
She declared, "We now have the chance to create a new army of young people who are determined to eradicate moral decadence from Africa."
This platform must be embraced by the current generation and used to further the principles and teachings of the Chastity Parade. Young people can succeed in their academic pursuits and in life in general by adopting moral judgments and pledging to uphold their purity.
Society as a whole might aspire to buck the trend toward moral degeneration and immorality through initiatives like the Chastity Parade. It's time to provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to make wise decisions and live honorably, responsibly, and with integrity. Everyone is welcome to join the Chastity Parade, which leads the way in promoting morally sound sexual behavior and a life founded on sound principles.
