The Federal Capital Territory's Minister, Nyesom Wike, has sent out a strong warning to anyone who has information on kidnappers, bandits, or other criminal activity in the area: either you repent or you will perish at the hands of security personnel.
At a town hall security meeting yesterday in Kuje town, Kuje Area Council of the territory, Wike gave a speech.
The minister also exhorted Area Council members to fulfill their responsibility by offering pertinent information that would support security services.
"We are going to address insecurity head-on," he declared. Your days of being thieves and crooks are over. I am aware that certain criminal informants are present and listening to me; if you are an informant, you will perish along with the persons you are leaking information to.
"Today is your chance to turn from your sins, or else you will disappear. There won't be any sympathy. What the security agencies have been up to in the last few days is visible to you. It is not as busy as usual, as evidenced by that.
Know that we are prepared for you. I advised the Chairman that we have to do our part to ensure that the vigilance groups have the necessary authority. The security agencies need to be familiar with them and have to profile them. And please provide us with information, residents. You have to cooperate with the security services and give them data.
"Never fear. I've dealt with problems similar to this one in the past. I promise that no amount of intimidation will prevent us from completing our task.
Along with expressing dismay at the condition of the roads in Kuje Area Council, Wike promised to review the Council's file and provide motorable roads for the populace.
